Our cross country team, the Chapel Hill Cheetahs, had a fantastic inaugural 2019 cross country season. We hope you’ll join us for the 2020 season.
Cross Country has been deemed among the safer of sports, but in light of COVID-19, we will be taking many protective measures. Families will be asked to sign our community agreement outlining the protocol for participating. Runners will remain 6 feet apart from one another when stretching and gathering, and starts and practices will be staggered so runners leave adequate space between each other. Runners must bring their own water to practice.
At present, the restrooms and playground at Cedar Falls Park are closed. Parents will need to remain on the premises of the park during practice in case students need to be taken to a restroom (at a nearby gas station).
The days of practice will be decided by parent survey. Options include:
- Tuesday/Thursday mornings at 9 for summer and through the October meet
- Monday/Wednesday mornings at 9 for summer and Monday/Wednesdays at 12:30 for fall (with a quick snack break before practice for those who are at Deerstream in the mornings)
We will get information about meets as it becomes available so parents can decide if they feel comfortable with their children’s participation.
If the season has to be truncated for any reason, we will refund the prorated amount of the remainder of the season.
Please contact Coach Williamson or Kelly Kirk with questions. We look forward to a great season! Go Cheetahs!
