Who We Are

Deerstream is an independent, board-governed, nonprofit organization, offering classes and support to homeschool families from across the Triangle area. We provide students with academic instruction from a Christian perspective; teachers seek to help children recognize the hand of God in all they study and do. We enroll students of any faith, or none, who support our mission. Deerstream does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, or religion in any of its programs or policies.

All of our classes meet at the Chapel Hill Bible Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

What We Do

The mission of Deerstream Learning Center is two-fold:

  • To provide a classroom experience for homeschoolers, taught in a Christian environment by qualified faculty;
  • To offer homeschooling parents support for their own teaching.

Who We Serve

  • We serve homeschoolers from ages 4 to 16!
  • Deerstream enrolls nearly 250 students who live across the Triangle area:  Orange, Durham, Alamance, Granville, Wake, and Chatham counties.
  • Students represent a range of ethnicities, backgrounds, and experience with homeschooling, but are unified by their love of hands-on learning.
